Jul 09, 2025

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has named Katie Scott, Editor of Insurance Times as the 2025 BIBA Journalist of the Year at its annual Journalist & Media Awards.

In their 43rd year, the association’s prestigious awards recognise the important role of the media in increasing the understanding of insurance and insurance broking.

Congratulating Katie, BIBA’s CEO Graeme Trudgill said: “Katie has demonstrated exceptional consistency, talent and courage. Throughout the judging process, Katie scored highly across the board, and the judges were unanimous in their praise. They highlighted how their writing not only engages the reader but demonstrates a deep and thoughtful understanding of the issues, particularly in one piece, where drawing on her own personal experience the human element of their work shone through, and highlighted how insurance is about people and solving real-life problems when they matter most.”

The Publication of the Year was awarded to Insurance Post, for its consistently high-quality and extensive coverage of the issues that matter most to our industry.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was made to Edmund Tirbutt in recognition of his long-term dedication to helping both the industry and the public better understand the complexities and importance of insurance.
